QA Lab Technician

POSITION SUMMARY

This a position is for an individual who has a desire to gain increased knowledge and experience surrounding web development, application development, hardware setup and configuration, and networking. This individual will primarily be responsible for maintaining desktop and server hardware in a large lab environment to support engineering’s development and testing initiatives. Opportunities will exist to automate manual processes through scripting and/or coding custom tools to manage equipment more efficiently.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Ability to install various operating systems (i.e. Windows 2K, XP, Vista, and Server 2003, Red Hat Enterprise and/or othaer Linux distros
• Some exposure  with imaging software (Clonezilla, Norton Ghost, Partition Image, and etc)
• Some exposure to installation and configuration of server software (Apache Web Servers, Jboss, Tomcat, DHCP, DNS, and etc)

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

Student enrolled in a technical discpline (CS, EE, Math, Information Technology or other technical area preferred)

Technical Skills:

• Knowledge of computer networking (switches, routers, wiring, and etc)
• Exposure to software development practices and methodologies
• Exposure to object oriented programming and/or scripting languages (Python, Java, C++, Ruby, BASH, Perl, PHP, and etc)
